Terms of use
The rules that govern your use of the JURIST platform.
Last updated: March 2026
1. Introduction and acceptance
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“Subscriber”, “you”, “your”) and Caribbean JURIST (“we”, “us”, “our”), governing your access to and use of the JURIST platform (“Platform”, “Service”).
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Cookie Policy, and Platform Use Disclaimer, each of which is incorporated herein by reference.
If you are entering into these Terms on behalf of a law firm, chambers, or other legal organisation, you represent and warrant that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
The Platform is designed for use by legal professionals, including but not limited to attorneys-at-law, barristers, solicitors, legal officers, and law students. By registering, you represent that you are:
- at least eighteen (18) years of age;
- a legal professional or student of law, or an individual or entity with a legitimate professional need for legal research tools; and
- capable of forming a binding contract under the laws of Jamaica.
3. Platform use disclaimer
JURIST is a legal research tool. It is not a legal advisor, it does not provide legal advice, legal opinions, or legal representation, and its use does not create any form of attorney-client, solicitor-client, or barrister-client relationship between you and Caribbean JURIST or any of its personnel, affiliates, or agents.
All AI-Generated Content produced by the Platform:
- is generated by artificial intelligence systems and may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or jurisdictional inaccuracies;
- must be independently verified by a qualified legal professional before reliance in any matter;
- does not constitute a substitute for the exercise of professional legal judgment; and
- is produced using retrieval-augmented generation (“RAG”) architecture that reduces but does not eliminate the risk of hallucination or inaccuracy.
You assume full and sole responsibility for independently verifying all AI-Generated Content before acting upon it or incorporating it into any work product, submission, or advice to any client.
Caribbean JURIST accepts no liability whatsoever for any outcome, loss, damage, cost, or expense arising from reliance on AI-Generated Content without independent professional verification.
4. Subscription tiers and pricing
Access to the Platform is provided on a subscription basis. The following tiers are available at launch:
| Tier | Monthly fee | Query allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Client | US$15.00 | 10 queries |
| Associate | US$50.00/month | 50 queries/month |
| Senior Counsel | US$100.00/month | 120 queries/month |
| Silk | US$150.00/month | 200 queries/month |
Caribbean JURIST reserves the right to modify pricing and tier structures upon thirty (30) days' prior written notice to active Subscribers. Query allowances do not roll over to subsequent periods.
5. Payment terms
All fees are payable in advance of the applicable Subscription Period. Payment is processed through Stripe. Caribbean JURIST does not store, process, or have access to your full payment card details.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each Subscription Period unless cancelled. All fees are stated exclusive of any applicable taxes. If payment fails, access may be suspended until payment is received.
6. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Account settings or by written notice to admin@juristpro.ai. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current Subscription Period. No pro-rata refunds are provided for cancellation mid-period, except where required by applicable law. See our full Refund and Cancellation Policy for details.
Upon cancellation, you will have thirty (30) days to request export of your data. After this period, your data will be permanently deleted.
7. Intellectual property
Caribbean JURIST intellectual property. Caribbean JURIST owns and retains all rights, title, and interest in the Platform, including its software, user interface, design, algorithms, architecture, corpus organisation, taxonomy, metadata, vector indices, annotation layers, brand, trademarks, and trade dress.
Public domain legal texts. The underlying text of public domain legal instruments is not owned by Caribbean JURIST. Our rights extend to the organisation, annotation, and compilation of such texts.
Your content. You retain ownership of the queries you submit and the professional work product you create using AI-Generated Content as a reference.
AI-Generated Content licence. AI-Generated Content is licensed to you on a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable basis for use in your professional legal practice. The copyright status of AI-generated outputs remains legally unsettled. No copyright in AI-Generated Content is assigned or transferred to you. You may not resell, redistribute, or use AI-Generated Content to train competing AI systems or populate third-party databases.
8. Acceptable use
Your use of the Platform is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy. Caribbean JURIST reserves the right to suspend or terminate your Account immediately and without refund for any violation.
9. Data protection and privacy
Caribbean JURIST processes personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy. We are a data controller in respect of Subscriber account data and a data processor in respect of personal data contained within Subscriber queries. We comply with the Jamaica Data Protection Act 2020 and all other applicable data protection legislation.
10. Service availability
Caribbean JURIST will use commercially reasonable efforts to maintain Platform availability in accordance with the Service Level Agreement. The remedies set out in the SLA (service credits) are your sole and exclusive remedy for any failure of service availability.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Caribbean JURIST's total aggregate liability shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim;
- Caribbean JURIST shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, clients, or business opportunity;
- Caribbean JURIST shall not be liable for loss or damage arising from reliance on AI-Generated Content without independent verification, third-party provider failures, or circumstances beyond reasonable control.
12. Suspension and termination
You may terminate your Account at any time. Caribbean JURIST may terminate or suspend your Account immediately if you breach these Terms, your payment is overdue, we are required to do so by law, or your Account is being used for illegal activity. Sections 3, 7, 11, 14, and 15 survive termination.
13. Modifications
Caribbean JURIST may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified at least thirty (30) days before taking effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Jamaica. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Jamaica.
15. General provisions
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Cookie Policy, Service Level Agreement, and Platform Use Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and Caribbean JURIST in relation to the Platform. If any provision is held to be invalid, the remaining provisions continue in full force. No waiver of any right shall constitute a continuing waiver. You may not assign your rights without our prior written consent.
