1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (remain for a set period).
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. They do not require your consent under the Jamaica Data Protection Act 2020.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| jurist_session | Authenticates your identity and maintains your session | Session |
| jurist_refresh | Secure token rotation for authentication | 7 days |
| jurist_csrf | Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks | Session |
3. Non-essential cookies
These cookies are only set with your consent. At launch, the Platform may use analytics cookies to track page views and feature usage.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| jurist_analytics | Tracks page views and feature usage (only if analytics provider requires cookies) | 12 months |
| jurist_consent | Records your cookie consent preferences | 12 months |
If JURIST adopts a cookieless analytics solution (e.g., Plausible Analytics), the analytics cookie will not be used.
4. Third-party cookies
The Platform does not use third-party advertising cookies. Our payment processor (Stripe) may set its own cookies on pages where payment is processed. We do not permit any third party to set cookies for advertising, tracking, or profiling purposes.
5. Your choices
When you first visit the Platform, a consent banner will ask you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your preferences at any time using the “Cookie Preferences” link in the Platform footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from using the Platform.
