Platform use disclaimer

1. Nature of service

JURIST is a legal research assistance platform operated by Caribbean JURIST. The Platform provides AI-assisted legal research outputs using retrieval-augmented generation (“RAG”) technology applied to a curated corpus of Caribbean legal materials including judgments, legislation, statutory instruments, practice directions, and related texts.

JURIST does not provide legal advice, legal opinions, or legal representation.

2. No professional relationship

Use of the JURIST platform does not create:

• a solicitor-client relationship;
• a barrister-client relationship;
• an attorney-client relationship; or
• any other professional legal relationship

between you and Caribbean JURIST, its directors, employees, contractors, affiliates, or agents. Caribbean JURIST is a technology company. It is not a law firm, chambers, or legal practice.

3. AI limitations and verification obligation

All outputs generated by the Platform (“AI-Generated Content”) are produced by artificial intelligence systems. These systems:

• may contain errors — including factual inaccuracies, misattributions, and incorrect citations;
• may contain omissions — relevant authorities or provisions may not be identified;
• may contain outdated information — the corpus may not reflect the most recent developments;
• may contain jurisdictional inaccuracies — principles from one jurisdiction may be applied in the wrong context; and
• may produce hallucinations — AI systems can generate plausible but fabricated content, including non-existent case citations. JURIST's Comparator-Safe RAG architecture reduces but does not eliminate this risk.

You must independently verify all AI-Generated Content before reliance in any matter. This means checking citations against primary sources, confirming that cited authorities exist and say what the Platform reports, and exercising your own professional judgment.

You assume full and sole responsibility for any reliance on AI-Generated Content without independent verification.

4. Limitation of liability

Caribbean JURIST accepts no liability whatsoever for any outcome, loss, damage, cost, claim, or expense (whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive) arising from:

• reliance on AI-Generated Content without independent professional verification;
• errors, omissions, inaccuracies, or hallucinations in AI-Generated Content;
• the use of AI-Generated Content in court proceedings, client advice, transactional work, or any other professional context;
• any decision made or action taken on the basis of AI-Generated Content; or
• the failure of the Platform to identify relevant authorities, provisions, or arguments.

5. Professional responsibility

As a legal professional, your use of JURIST does not diminish your professional obligations, including:

• the duty to exercise independent professional judgment;
• the duty of competence, including the duty to verify research accuracy;
• the duty to provide competent representation to your client; and
• any applicable rules governing the use of AI tools in legal practice.

6. Acknowledgement

By using the JURIST platform, you expressly acknowledge that:

• you have read and understood this Disclaimer;
• JURIST is a research tool, not a legal advisor;
• all AI-Generated Content requires independent verification;
• Caribbean JURIST bears no liability for outcomes resulting from unverified use; and
• no professional legal relationship exists between you and Caribbean JURIST.
